Mechanics of Development: Opportunity Zones and Local Incentives

  • Polsinelli 900 W. 48th Street, Suite 900 Kansas City, MO 64112 (map)

Real estate development projects may rely on the use of federal opportunity zones or local incentives. While opportunity zones are relatively new to the space of creating incentives for the development of lower income areas, and their true impact is yet to be seen, local incentives have been in play for years and their impacts can be seen in the revival of Kansas City’s downtown, construction of a new convention center, and several other projects in the Kansas City region.

Real estate and economic development speakers, Korb Maxwell (Polsinelli) and Roxsen Koch (Polsinelli), will focus on development opportunities, with illustrative examples at play in the Kansas City area that arise from the use of local incentives and opportunity zones. In addition to an overview of federal opportunity zones, speakers will provide an overview of local incentives including Chapter 100, TIF, CIDs, and other examples.1.5 CM credits pending
