Current Trends in Socially Distanced Public Engagement

Presenters: Kyle Elliott, AICP & Sheila Shockey

A panel of planning professionals within the Kansas City region will discuss current planning initiatives and how they are still engaging communities despite the global pandemic.  All participants will have an opportunity to share what their organizations are doing to obtain meaningful feedback during this time.

The activity will be an opportunity for planners to learn from leaders in the profession and collaborate with one another.  Effective, meaningful community outreach is an essential skill required of planners and the current public health pandemic has forced many to amend traditional avenues of gathering feedback.  The activity will keep local planners abreast to current trends and emerging best practices.
